Trimming day in Finland 2008

We held our first official trimming day in Finland during our summer holidays in 2008. It was a day during which we showed new newf owners how to trim and take care of their newfoundlands coat.

We started with a powerpoint show, where we went through all the parts that needed trimming. It made it easier for everyone to get a good feel of what needed trimming before they actually had their scissors in their hands. We also went through different types of brushes, combs and scissors and decide which ones were the best for their newfs. (a Furminator is NOT good for a newf and good quality shears are necessary!)

We trimmed Paavo ourselves (though only one side so the difference would be more visible) and the others trimmed two newfoundlands together.

The day passed quickly and everyone left with a smile on their face, having learnt a lot of new stuff.

Even the landseer-owner got some good tips for her landseer and bought a new brush from the next show (later on she thanked us again and again for showing it to her). :-)

The trimming day would make a good tradition... Hopefully we'll be able to do it again next summer!
