Veggie glop:

What is veggie glop?

It is a mixture of fruits and vegetables from which your dog will be able to get all the necessary vitamins etc. This imitates the stomach content of the wolf's prey. The fruit and vegetable glop must be frozen in order for the cell walls to break and for the dogs to be able to digest and use the contents of them.

How often should it be given?

We give it every day, because some important vitamins are water-soluble and are thus secreted very fast. It is not vital to give it every day, often is enough.

What can I mix in it?

You can mix almost every fruit and vegetable in it. Use a ratio of 50:50 if possible. All the green from carrot tops etc. can also be used.
An example of what we used last time:

2kg bananas
30 tomatoes, 8kg
[N.B. tomatoes are in large quantities poisonous, our dogs did not react in any way. Do not give them!]
8kg apples
2kg carrots
6 cucumbers
7.5 kg oranges
5  mandarins
2 corn-cobs
2kg peas- 2 different sorts
5 salads
2kg kiwis
2kg brusselssprouts
2 melons
3 mangos

Making the veggie glop; 70l in one day

How we do it:

It is wise to do a bigger patch of veggie glop at a time. Especially before winter it is best to stack the whole freezer full of fruits and vegetables, before the prices rise too high. Our last patch took three hours to cut and smash, and it will last about 3 months for two newfoundlands. (see upper picture)
It is best to pack the veggie glop in milk containers: a quarter a day for each.
We mix Inflight Coat Formula in the veggie glop and the freeze it in the freezer. Every other day we take one milk container out of the freezer and put it into our fridge. It will stay good until it is used up.
